Bill of Materials

A term used to describe a hierarchical parts inventory involving one or more levels of composition. At each level of a component the parts are enumerated by identifying the number and type of the parts used to assemble the component. When one or more of those parts constitute sub-assemblies, the process repeats until only atomic parts are identified.
