Alternative Content Types

The following content types were tested by rejected for current implementation in the D7 system:

  • Groups (group)
  • Posts (post)
  • Suggestions (suggestion)
  • WebForms (webform)

Groups

Groups are posted as node type group. The are the basic organization mechanism provided by the Organic Groups facility.

Posts

Posts are posted as node type post. Posts are created as part of the Organic Groups facility and constitute the communications medium for posting of internal messages to groups. When posts are written, one or more  groups may be identified as the addressees of the post. The post will then appear as 'content' associated with that group.

Suggestion

Suggestions are posted as node type suggestion. Suggestions were created as a trial type when testing the Maestro workflow facility. They are mechanisms for use to collect and catalog feedback about the site in a way where we can do it transparently and have the data captured in the form of a node. Suggestions require preview before they can be saved.

WebForms

WebForms are posted as node type webform. They are used as a simplified mechanism for data collection by the Webform module. They can be used to conduct surveys or other types of data gathering. Multiple webforms sub-types can be created.  A single webform defines a specific data collection specification. In addition, associated with the webform is the set of data that was collected, all of which follows the data pattern identified by the webform. The data is not managed as nodes, but rather all is placed in a database table which then requires interpretation by the Webform odule.
